Aha, the government once again makes promises about a vote on MMP, I for one welcome a binding referendum, even though it may take another number of years to happen.
I just hope this time they give US the choice of WHAT we vote for, the last time they loaded the dice, and presented only the two options they (the Govt) wanted, where as many of us want stv (single trasferrable vote) so you actually choose your second choices.
Our current system means a small group with few votes can hold a govt to ransom and effectivly BE the decision makers, having the Parties themselves decide who they want to put in from THEIR list means politicians you went to great lengths to vote OUT of a seat can still end up in govt via a party list. that just stinks.
My wish is that this time they will educate the voters on the merits of all the various systems available so the voting public can make a informed choice.
